Where Are All the Women Execs?

How many U.S. companies have at least one female executive on staff? According to a new report from marketing-data company Infogroup Targeting Solutions, a mere 27 percent fit that description. The one region bucking that trend is the San Francisco Bay Area, where Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Emeryville all boast higher percentages of women executives. “Silicon Valley is actually faring really well [in] comparison to the balance of the U.S.,” Andrea Haldeman, Infogroup’s senior vice president of sales, told Fortune… continue…

This Firm Tried to Pay Tech Workers $1.21 an Hour

What’s the minimum that some companies are trying to pay workers in Silicon Valley? If you guessed “the required minimum wage for the state of California,” you’d be wrong: Electronics for Imaging Inc. paid eight Indian technicians $1.21 per hour, for as many as 122 working hours per week, with no overtime. Google Employees Used Perks to Live House-Free

In a bid to keep its employees on campus for as long as possible, Google’s Mountain View headquarters offers a variety of perks, including free food, gym facilities, and dry cleaning.
