‘Soft’ Skills Count as Job Skills on Your Resume

Resume Skills

Tip of the Day

If you want to know which job skills are needed for a specific role, print 10 job descriptions from Dice that most closely represent the type of work you want. Then, look at their requirements. Almost all of the things you’ll find listed there are job skills.

That includes certifications and soft skills used in team building and communication. “Able to work under tight deadlines” may not seem like a job skill, but it is. Business is social and how you work with others and under what conditions are important to success in a company’s culture. Thus, you need to list such soft skills on your resume.

  1. May I suggest… copy & paste text from job posts into a word cloud generator like Wordle http://www.wordle.net/

      Awesome suggestion!

I was already listing out relevant skills all jobs of interest had listed as well as what sites/material I could go over to learn more about them. It didn’t occur to me that putting the former into a Wordle would make a great tool to wrap my mind around the subject matter as a whole!
