Practice Gaming, Help Civilization

In times of crisis, social media usage skyrockets. And while many of the posts are merely complaints about being inconvenienced, some contain information that could be useful to first responders. Unfortunately, due to the massive volume of posts, much of it gets lost. One organization wants to put a stop to it, but they’ll need your gaming skills to do it.

An excellent idea whose time is come. I’m committed.

This is a very interesting idea. While I don’t have much time to play games, I can see the good such an effort would do, but not just for the communities that need the resources gamers can give them. It could also change the public’s perception of online gamers if such a response effort succeeded in coordinating disaster relief.

I would think WoW would be a natural choice for such a plugin considering the guild runs are highly coordinated efforts with teams of 20+ people working perfectly in sync. Having been on a few years ago, I was impressed by the level of coordination people have to achieve to manage a complex and dynamic scenario such as a boss fight. However, instead of taking down a boss, these groups could take down (reduce) suffering.

I have some concerns since this is operating out of Qartar. First, how are the gamers notified? Who decides which disaster are served? I have a problem with the phrase “social revolution”, the implications of that phrase today makes me leary of this group.
