A $25 Computer That Fits In Your Palm

A $25 computer? Just a bit bigger than a flash drive? No way.

The $25 ComputerWay. It comes from British game developer David Braben, who wants to develop a cheap computer for children , kind of like One Laptop Per Child.

It runs a version of Linux, and will likely ship with Ubuntu. It’s got a 700-megahertz ARM processor and 128 megabytes of RAM (about half the memory of most smartphones. And SD card handles any storage, and the device can handle video and images at 1080-pixel resolution. A USB port allows users to plug in a keyboard, and an HDMI port connects to a compatible TV or monitor.

Braben hopes the device will be available in around a year, through the non-profit Raspberry Pi Foundation .

    What I want to know is if this is suppose to be marketed to developing countries like the “One laptop per child” is, then why the HDMI port? Many households don’t even have a tv and definitely not a newer hi-def one…. just a thought.
