DiceTV: Piercings, Tattoos and Hiring Managers

When you show up for a job interview, you’d better have given some thought to what the hiring manager’s going to see when you walk in the door and how he’s going to react. Watch Cat, or read this for more.

Anthony, pay more attention to the subject matter instead of what she looks like. She is more than just hot body and pretty face.

You may be able to get away with piercing, mohawks, etc. on the staff of The Millionaire Matchmaker, but not in I.T. ! Good advice.

Covering up tats and piercings before an interview is as much of a given as remembering not to fart in an interview—- DUH!!!

People regard and think about what you ‘put in the shop window’, and PC complaints about this fact is just more hypocrisy.

A putative NCIS lab tech with tats and piercings could be simultaneously cute and capable in very limited contexts. (Intimate friends would be, ah, ‘demotivated’ by seeing her back with a giant Celtic cross tat.) Yet such tattoos would show up hugely at any company picnic or other ‘team-building’ outing, wouldn’t it?

In former times, tattoos and scarification indicated either attainment as a warrior (met the enemy hand-to-hand and survived) or societal status (chief wife etc.). Nowadays in the West such marks can signal a self-indulgence like unto that of the obese.
